BRICKHILLS CHALLENGE
The Brickhills Challenge was originally a early season Reliability ride at the end of February for the racing guys to hone their early season form. With a succesion of hills narrow lanes it was also ideal for the new breed of sportive rider training for Flanders. After 2 years in a row of being snowed off we reverted to October.
The Brickhills are on the southern border of Milton Keynes. You are never more than 15kms from HQ.
There are 14 climbs including Bow Brickhill, the steepest at nearly 20% which was used by the Milk Race one year. This is only 300 meters from HQ, so is ideal for spectators.
Three locks is the longest climb about 1.5km with an average from 6 to 10%
We pass through beautiful villages including Aspley Guise, Great, Bow and Little Brickhill Woburn and Drayton Parslow.
It is a 52 mile(85km) course and should take between 2hrs 45min to 4hrs. There are no feed stops as it is only 50 miles. At the finish every rider will get a bottle of water and there will be free tea, cakes and sandwiches available.
There will be some random spot prizes and prizes for best classic racing bikes.
Start and Finish at the Bow Brickhill Pavillion, Rushmere Close, Milton Keynes, MK17 9JB
