Welcome to the first Rother Valley Sprint and Standard Distance duathlons staged by TLS Events Ltd. For many this will be this first event of the 2016 season and hopefully a good sharpener for the upcoming World and European Championship qualifying events. It is our mission to start the season off with a bang, shake off the winter miles and hit the ground running for 2016. For first time athletes or experienced races we want them to remember the day and use it for a stepping stone to new challenges later in the year. Both duathlons will be ideal starter events to 2016 and are suitable for everyone from beginners to experienced athletes.

Event courses

The run legs of the race will be held on the well-known flat and fast Rother Valley lake loop. The bike will be held on a multi-lap circuit outside of the main park. It will be on open roads but we have received excellent help from Derbyshire Police and councils to give everyone a safe event.

Location

Rother Valley Country Park is situated in the borough of Rotherham close to Sheffield and Derbyshire. It covers 740 acres, has four artificial lakes and supports many recreational activities and nature reserves. It is well known for supporting multi-sport events and has many purpose built walking, cycling and water sport activities throughout the year.

Directions

We advise you not to use a satnav for Rother Valley as it takes you to a nearby industrial estate!

From M1 junction 31 take the A57 towards Sheffield, at the roundabout take the A618 towards Mansfield, Wales Bar and Clowne, at the traffic lights go straight on and the park entrance is at the bottom of the hill on the right.

It will be clearly signposted on the day.

Other information

The event will be held under Triathlon England rules.

The event will be fully chip timed and results available within 1 hour of completing the event on an app from our chip timing suppliers Results Base

The event will have water station on the run course

The park café will be open from 07.30am on the day of the event serving both hot and cold food and drinks.

Prizes

Every competitor finishing the event will receive a bespoke medal and we are excited that a sponsor will soon be named and a prize list will then be announced.
