The Distance is a two-day self-supported cycling event (with benefits!).
This is a challenge, not a race. The route will vary based on the rider’s rate of progress.
The faster you ride the further you have to go. The route varies dependent on the time you arrive at each checkpoint.
The routes all take in some of the best scenery the Galloway region has to offer. From coast to forest, tarmac to trail, there is enough variety for everyone. The routing has been designed with drop bar bikes in mind but all are welcome.
Riders must carry with them enough equipment to comfortably stay out overnight though ‘the benefits’ will include hot food, toilets/showers and a well deserved beverage.
The event start is at Colvend Public Hall, Colvend, Dalbeattie DG5 4QD (map)
Registration will be open on Friday 9th between 1800 and 2100 and on Saturday 10th between 0700 and 0845.
Riders will depart between 0830 and 0900 on Saturday 10th.
Entry to the event (minimum age 16) is £60.
If you wish to attend the event and use the camping facilities as a non-rider/supporter then you can also book a 'non rider' entry at £15.
A booking fee of £1.50 per entrant will be added together with a small per-order charge (approximately 1.25%) to cover the cost of processing your debit or credit card.
