The UK Emergency Services Games Triathlon 2020

The UK Emergency Services Games 2020 will be coming to Willen Lake to host the first triathlon there since the European Championships in 1984. Before a time where wetsuits were even allowed, this year’s triathlon will showcase just how much times have changed all whilst supporting such a worthy cause – our Emergency Services. This event is open to all, with immediate family of the Emergency Services entitled to a discounted entry price.

Starting at 7am, the swim will start off by the jetty nearside the Lakeside pub and swim out around the left side of the lake and back. A one or two lapped swim for the Sprint and Standard distances making for a perfect spectating view for family and friends; the Middle distance also boasts two laps though these will be slightly different to the former but still in great view of those spectating.

Upon completing the swim athletes will leave the jetty and run into transition situated on Willen Showground where they will get their bikes and head out on an interesting ride exiting the city with partial road closures. Sprint distance triathletes will simply do an out and back through the town cycling as far as Little Linford whilst Standard and Middle-distance athletes will explore more of the rolling Buckinghamshire country roads. The bike for most will be the one that allows you to extend that lead and really show off your sporting abilities as you cycle hard through the county. Marshals and feed stations on both routes will ensure you all stay hydrated and comfortable as you take part in the second leg of the race.

Finishing the bike athletes will once again head into transition, this time preparing themselves for that all-important run. The run will see athletes travel just outside the venue and into Campbell Park where spectators can have a fantastic view of the action, and the athletes an undulating but highly enjoyable run. Exploring the jewels of Milton Keynes, the route will take you through some beautiful parks and paths of the town. All distances shall complete the same run route as each other but the Middle distance will complete one extra 1km lap, again around the venue but still in sight of spectators.
