Nice Work is delighted to be helping the Wenlock Olympian Society stage their Marathon and Half Marathon races in 2015.
The Wenlock Olympian Society preserves the ideals of Dr William Penny Brookes - the inspiration for the modern Olympic Movement and the Wenlock Olympian Games are held each year at venues across Shropshire centred on the little market town of Much Wenlock. This year's games take place mainly between the 12th and 21st July, but the Marathon and Half Marathon feature on May 18th.
The 2014 Marathon and Half Marathon will start and finish on of Britain's only outdoor 200m athletics tracks in Much Wenlock and cover a scenic route taking in the footpaths, trails, bridlepaths and lanes in and around the town. The route will also take in Ironbridge - the birthplace of modern industry and a World Heritage Site.
Leading men and ladies in the race, including those in all age categories will, in Olympian tradition, be awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. All finishers will receive a participation medal. The race features chip timing.
The race headquarters will be at the Much Wenlock Leisure Centre at the William Brookes School. Car parking and refreshments will also be available.
