Event Details

The St Andrew's Hospice Sportive is an 80-mile (127Km) fully closed road sportive. For those who feel that 80 miles is a bit far we have now added a 50-mile option. The challenging and scenic route takes in some of the classic West of Scotland roads and climbs as well as some less well known back roads and lanes in Lanarkshire.

The route passes through Lennoxtown, climbs over the classic Crow Road, meanders along the Carron Valley before plummeting down the Tak ma Doon Road into Kilsyth. Continuing towards Longrigend, Shotts and Allanton before turning back up to Jersay and Kirk O'Shotts, for the most part on quiet lanes and minor roads. Riders will then continue through Plains, Greengairs and on to the new finish at Broadwood Stadium, Cumbernauld.

Fundraising

The purpose of this event is to fundraise for the essential work of the St Andrew’s Hospice which provides end of life care to patients who are suffering from cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. St Andrews Hospice offer a wide range of support services to patients and their families to help them with the traumas and challenges they face. Each week, St Andrews Hospice provide care to approximately 120 patients from communities in Lanarkshire. With your help, we can continue to provide care to those who need it.

Around the World Cyclist Mark Beaumont

Around the World Cyclist and Adventurer Mark Beaumont ambassador for the event says:

"I am delighted to be leading out the inaugural St Andrew's Hospice Sportive - this is a fantastic route on some iconic stretches including Milton of Campsie and Crow Road. With over 5000 feet of ascent it will be a challenging event, but with closed roads... I have no doubt that this will be brilliant. Through the hard miles and camaraderie everyone can also make a big difference to the people being looked after in Lanarkshire by the St Andrew's Hospice."
