IMPORTANT INFORMATION: OVINGHAM BRIDGE WILL BE CLOSED TO VEHICLES FOR MAJOR REPAIR WORK IN 2014. IT WILL BE OPEN TO PEDESTRIANS. PARKING FOR THIS RACE WILL BE ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE BRIDGE (PRUDHOE SIDE OF THE RIVER) ONLY. ACCESS TO PARKING WILL BE EITHER VIA WYLAM BRIDGE IF COMING FROM THE NORTH EAST, OR THE A68 BRIDGE (BETWEEN RIDING MILL & STOCKSFIELD) IF COMING FROM THE NORTH WEST. PLEASE ALLOW PLENTY OF TIME TO WALK FROM THE PARKING AREAS TO THE SCHOOL TO COLLECT YOUR CHIP AND THEN TO GET TO THE START OF THE RACE (SEE DETAILS BELOW).

PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN OVINGHAM VILLAGE.

  • The race is a mainly flat, rural 10k along minor roads and tracks. Most of the roads are closed.

  • This event will be chip timed in 2014 therefore numbers and chips will need to be collected on the night from Ovingham Middle School (approx. 15minutes walk from Ovingham Bridge). Please allow sufficient time to do this and get to the start of the race, which is approximately 1mile from the school.

  • The race starts in Ovington before heading downhill to Ovingham then on along the road to Wylam. At Wylam the route joins the disused railway line and then follows the riverside path back to the finish line on the south side of the river near Ovingham Bridge.

  • Changing (no showers), supper & prize presentation will be at Ovingham Middle School. Please DO NOT park in Ovingham village as inconsiderate parking could jeopardize the future running of this race.

  • The school will be open from 6pm.

  • Please try to stand in a starting place appropriate to your race speed as the start is narrow and fast!

  • After the race there will be a pie and pea supper (included in the entry fee) followed by the prize presentation. There will be generous prizes in senior and veteran categories. There will also be team prizes. Club vests must be worn for the team competition.

  • No runner may claim more than one individual prize.

  • There is a £2 reduction if you enter both this race and the Tynedale 10mile Jelly Road Race at the same time.

  • Entrants should check the Tynedale Harriers website for last minute information before setting off to the race.

Cancellation Policy:

If the event has to be cancelled or delayed we regret that refunds cannot be made. We will only cancel in the interests of safety on the advice of the police and race officials.

End of race food will however be available in exchange for your race number. This must be collected in person as it cannot be posted!

Exchange Policy:

Numbers cannot be exchanged at any time following acceptance of entry.
