The Newark Half Marathon is back as a new, faster and more scenic summer race. It is limited to 1,000 entrants with a fun run and entertainment for all the family.
The setting is historic Newark with its castle and civil war museum. The race starts in the Sconce and Devon Park, site of civil war battles, passes the Ice Age Journey dig, where our ancestors settled over 13,000 years ago, skirts East Stoke, site of the bloodiest civil battle through Elston, birth place of the Darwin family and where our main sponsor Eden Hall is situated, then back to the Sconce and Devon Park.
The route is flat and fast and mainly on closed roads.
The 2016 Newark Half Marathon is the Nottinghamshire County Championship. Medals will be awarded across the age categories to all those who are eligible. When applying please indicate you wish to take part in this.
The organisers feel strongly that prizes for the half marathon should be awarded equally with respect to gender and age category. This recognises age graded ability and not simply the fastest.
Women: 65+. 55+, 45+, 35+, senior.
Men: 70+, 60+, 50+, 40+, senior.
Gift vouchers for £40 and £20 for first and second in each category respectively will be awarded. Presentations will take place as soon as possible after the finish.
2k Fun Run
The 2k Fun Run will start at 10:30 and is open to all ages. For entry purposes children should be added to an adult's profile so that covers the provision of parental consent and on the day any child under 11 must be accompanied on the run by an adult. Please note that the Fun Run is not timed.
Beaumond House Community Hospice is a registered charity that is committed to providing supportive palliative care to patients with life limiting or terminal illnesses and their families living in Newark & District, since 1987.
