This perennial favourite is held at Woodhorn Museum in the QE2 Country Park which boasts a 16-hectare lake surrounded by developing woodland and open grasslands. Woodhorn Museum is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and has a range of fantastic activities and exhibits for all the family.

On July 15th 2018 it will be host to the British Triathlon Age-Group Sprint Triathlon Championships. We expect this event to attract a top quality field and with a wide range experienced triathletes it will be fabulous. But if you are a first timer or new to the sport there’s no need to be concerned about entering. We look after everyone regardless and will be with you all the way around the course. It’s fun and accessible for all ages and abilities to take part in, and you can be assured that there will be plenty of other triathletes of a similar ability to you taking part. The swim will be in the warm, shallow, freshwater lake. The 'undulating' bike route will take you out towards Widdrington Village, before sweeping onto the coast road near Druridge Bay and then along to Cresswell village with some breath-taking views along the coast line. The run will be on the footpath that winds its way through the woodland and open grasslands that surround the lake and passes the finish at the end of each lap making this ideal for spectators to cheer everyone on to a great finish with a big smile. The Woodhorn Museum Triathlon is an ideal event for all abilities, and you should be guaranteed a great race.

The QE2 Country Park is situated approximately 14 miles north of Newcastle upon Tyne and 1 mile north of Ashington and this is our 'home' for open water swim training in the summer months.

The Woodhorn Museum Triathlon is one of only a few events in the country to have attained the BTF 3 Star Mark of Quality. This is a great achievement for the team and we pride ourselves on this and our continuing efforts to improve the standard of events in the North East Region.

Please note the minimum age for the sprint distance is 15 years old on 31st December 2018. Please also note that all Youths (under 16 on 31st December 2018) must hand in a signed parental consent form at registration. The form can be downloaded from the event web page.

Please note that there will be no entries on the day.
