When?

The SPRINT TRI Ponteland will take place on Sunday 1^st July 2018. This is a brand new event for 2018 hosted by Ponteland Tri Club, winners of the North East Region Triathlon Club of the Year 2017.

Where?

The event takes place at Ponteland Leisure Centre, Ponteland, NE20 9EG. The event is organised by Ponteland Tri Club.

There is free nearby parking. There will be hot and cold food and drink options for participants and spectators both before and after the event in the ‘Fanzone’.

What?

The triathlon will be a 400m pool swim, a 20km bike and a 6km run.

Swim: The 400 metre swim will be in wave format. There will be 4 lanes in the pool with 4 competitors per lane. The start and finish will be in the deep end. If you need assistance (ladders) to exit the pool, please advise us at swim@sprinttriponteland.org.uk and we shall ensure you are in the lane with ladders. When you go to the event entry, the swim time needs to be entered in the format mm:ss.

Bike: The 20km bike ride will take place on undulating roads around and about the beautiful and quiet country lanes around Ponteland. The initial section of the bike route will be neutralised (timer stopped and restarted) for competitor safety to get you out of the leisure centre (right turn) and through the main traffic lights in the village.

Helmets are compulsory for all races, a bike is an essential bit of kit, but as long as it's been serviced and road worthy you can use it.

The race is on roads open to other traffic and normal traffic laws but be adhered to at all times. The bike route on your race will be signposted and have marshals to help direct you, however, it's always useful to check the competitor information to check the route before the race.

Run: The 5.7km run will start and finish at the Ponteland Leisure Centre and we aim to make this an excellent finish to your race as you are cheered across the line. The route will be signposted and have marshals.

How much?

Entry for this event will be £39 BTF members/£44 non-BTF members.

An administration fee of 6% will be applied to each order by our online entry system partner, Results Base.

Please note that during the registration process your BTF membership will be checked and if valid the appropriate discount will be applied. If you enter as a BTF member and then fail to produce your licence at the event, there will be a £5 day membership fee payable.

Anything else?

Event entries open on 3^rd February 2018 and close on 17^th June 2018. Event entry includes a free technical T-shirt and a goody bag.  These will be collected at registration on the day of the event.

There will be awards for 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd positions in all age categories.

If you want to be sent an SMS message of your finish time you can add this option to your basket for a £1 additional charge.

Sprint Tri Ponteland are proud to be supporting the Sally Allan Fund. The Fund, which is part of Tyneside and Northumberland Mind was set up in memory of Sally, a resident of Ponteland for over 50 years, who took her own life on Boxing Day 2015. Sally had masked her mental health problems from her family, friends and colleagues. Sally’s family believe that had they been more aware about mental health they may have been able to help her. In order to help others the family have raised over £20,000 which enables Mind to deliver the Sally Allan Mental Health Awareness Presentation free of charge to businesses, the public sector, charities and community groups. Since it started in January 2016 over 75 organisations and 3,000 people have benefitted from the presentation.
