Halloween is thought to date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain when people would light bonfires and dress up in costumes to ward off roaming ghosts. Today it’s a time of celebration: of fun and frivolity, of sweet treats and desperate tricks where ghosts and ghouls now try to scare away vampires, witches and werewolves.
This year 2:09 Events is celebrating Halloween on Sunday October 28th with a new terrifying 10K hosted by Denbies Vineyard near Dorking in Surrey. We have a dastardly route waiting for you that undulates over paved tracks and off-road trails and meanders in and out of the vineyards. There will be carved pumpkins to show you the way to the haunted woods where we have a few surprises in store for you. There'll be ghosts and ghouls to guide you and a few zombies and vampires to quicken your pace back to the finish where there'll be lots of Halloween treats waiting. Dressing up is a big part of the experience and we'll have face painters on hand to fine-tune your costume with prizes for the best outfits on display. For those who aren’t quite ready for 10K there is a family-friendly, scary sprint over a shorter 2K course.
We dare you to give it a try!
Every finisher will get a special luminous medal and a goody bag at the end.
