The 14 mile run (approximate!) goes through an area of outstanding natural beauty along the Northumberland coastal path from Beadnell Harbour to Alnmouth Estuary, keeping as close to the coast as possible.

The multi-terrain route starts on sand, then moves onto road, then more sand, some trail, more road and finally finishes on sand at Alnmouth.

The race is not suitable for wheelchairs.

No animals are allowed within the race.

Minimum age of entry 18.

Race start time is 10:30am at Beadnell and there is a three hour cut-off. This is NOT a fun run, it is a challenging and unmarked course.

Entry process

Entry to the 2019 event will be slightly different to previous years.

600 club runner places were released on January 17th between 6pm and 10pm - one entry per order and you must be a club member with a UKA membership number.

All remaining places were released on January 18th between 6pm and 10pm - one entry per order.

A final batch of places will be released on April 25th between 6pm and 10pm - one entry per order.

Entry fee

£26 for UKA/British Athletics affiliated runners (your membership number will be checked during entry)

£28 for non-affiliated runners (select the non-UKA/British Athletics option at the membership check)

An administration fee of 6% will be applied to each order by our online entry system partner, Results Base.

No refunds under any circumstances and no deferrals.

Transfers

The transfer option is now closed, no further transfers will be allowed and there are no number changes on the day.

Anyone suspected of running with someone else's number will be disqualified from the results.

Please note that runners taking a number transfer cannot be guaranteed that they will get their preferred T-shirt size as these will have been ordered as soon as the event capacity is reached.

Bus to the start

During the entry process you will have the option to purchase a £4 bus transfer to the start - you must select to either have the bus ticket or not.

If you purchase the bus ticket then your race number will also contain your ticket onto the bus - only those with pre-purchased tickets will be allowed to board.

Note that the bus only travels to the Beadnell start - there is no facility for transport back to the start at end of race!!

Parking

Parking at both Beadnell and Alnmouth is very limited, especially with the race taking part in the school holidays. Please respect the village's wishes and park in the designated car park at the bus collection point at Hipsburn School. Clubs who normally bring buses should already have been contacted by a member of Alnwick Harriers to confirm which parking spot you have as there is no facility in Alnmouth for buses not booked in. Problems with bus parking nearly led to the event being cancelled in 2018.
