Following on from the announcements from Government, we thought we would update you on our current thinking regarding upcoming Big Cow Sports events.

The current guidance is that we carry on as normal but it looks likely that this will change in the coming weeks. We are aware of other large scale sporting events that have been postponed, despite the current guidelines. We are monitoring the situation and will make sure we keep you informed as to our plans as soon as any decisions are taken.

We are keeping a very close eye on the advice issued by Public Health England and sport Governing Bodies.

Newport Pagnell Carnival 5km
4th July 2020

A fast and flat 5k road race through the historic market town of Newport Pagnell. On closed roads in front of thousands, you'll be running ahead of the annual town Carnival Parade. The race finishes on the carnival meadow in the show arena where a day of entertainment and fun awaits you.

5K Fun Run

We have had a huge interest in families wanting to run with their children and so we have decided to make a new race just for them, outside of UKA rules. This means children of all ages and pushchair athletes can all participate.

The Fun Run 5K event will head off 10 minutes after the first 5K event and will follow the same route.

Children under 11 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Event Location

You'll start your run in Blakelands Business Park (off Tanners Drive), the run will take you through the town and past many of the local landmarks including the Iron Bridge and past the town jewel of Aston Martins. You'll finish your 5k by following the path around the Carnival Meadow and into the main arena to cross the finish line.

Parking

We would advise runners to walk to the start or get dropped off if possible to reduce traffic in the start area. For anyone coming from outside town there will be ample parking a few minutes from the start line in Tongwell (details will be confirmed in your pre-race email). There is limited parking at the finish on Riverside Meadow via Wellend Drive. Please do not park in the roads surrounding the meadow. Once you've enjoyed all the offerings of the Carnival event, its an easy 3k walk or jog back to the start and your vehicle.

Bag drop

A secure bag drop is available, although all items are left are your risk. Bags will be taken to the finish for collection on the meadow. You must show your race number to collect your belongings.

Also included:

- Event medal
- Chip timing
- Entry into Riverside Meadow (normally £2)
- Official race photographer
