The Coniston Epic Lakes Swim is event 3 of the Epic Lakes Open Water Swim Series. It takes place near the Bluebird Cafe, in Coniston. You can choose either the 500m, the 1 mile or the 'iron' 3.8k distances, depending upon your age and ability. Coniston provides yet another fantastic venue, with stunning views and it’s a great family day out. Visit the famous Bluebird Cafe or take a ride on the Steam Gondola. Coniston is of course famous for Donald Campbell’s speed record, but you can take things a bit more leisurely and enjoy the surroundings. It’s going to be another EPIC day of swimming, come and join us!
The format for the swims will be different to our previous events and will be based on a ‘time trial’ format which will follow the latest Swim England and Government guidelines. To ensure safety and social distancing there will be no mass start for any events. Swimmers will be allocated a specific start time and will start in the water at pre-determined intervals. We’ve worked closely with the local council, the National Park & National Trust to make this swim possible and we can guarantee both a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.
We will have a live leaderboard throughout the day, both onsite and online, to keep you and your followers updated with swim times during the event. We can still guarantee a great atmosphere with our MC on the mic, music and a great finish line team. Presentations will be live on Facebook, with prizes for various categories.

What do I need to enter
There will be the option when entering the mile or the 3.8k races to swim without a wetsuit (skin swimmer). You must have previous event experience of swimming without a wetsuit which must be provided at the point of entry. Tow floats will be compulsory for all skin swimmers. For all other competitors wetsuits are compulsory. Shortie type wetsuits are allowed if you are an experienced swimmer but we recommend full length arms and legs due to the cold temperatures. If you are susceptible to the cold, we would also recommend neoprene hats, socks and gloves. The minimum age for competitors is 11/14/17 for the 500m/1m/3.8k on the day of the event.
How much to enter
The cost to enter the 500m/1mile/3.8k is £20/25/29. Entries will close either at 12noon on the Thursday prior to the event or when the event fills, whichever occurs first.
Included within your entry
