Stowe September Trail Series 2020
Please note that the event on Friday 18th has been resheduled to Friday 25th as there is a problem with the venue on the orginal date. We have emailed entrants with the details. The event on Sunday the 20th is not affected.
We are really pleased to have arranged this September series of 6km Trail runs for you at Stowe Landscape gardens. There is no better way to enjoy the great outdoors than getting back out on the trail in the wonderful location. Whether you have just started running or are an experienced runner, this event has been designed for you.
There are 4 events in September, a mix of Friday evening and Sunday morning formats. Of course we had to review the format and the arrangements to keep us all safe in these strange times. We have played particular attention to the Government COVID-19 guidelines and support and also the guidelines issued by England Athletics and the Trail Running Association (TRA). Please note that the TRA have widened their definition of “virtual” trail races to include this time trial format which they fully support.
The race briefing will be emailed to you in advance and will clearly describe the format of the event, arrangements on the day and your responsibilities. There will be a rolling start with participants setting off every 10 seconds and you will be able to book your preferred block start time.
The event is based around Stowe landscape gardens in Buckinghamshire. Stowe has become widely renowned for its magnificent gardens created by Lord Cobham and the history of the gardens goes back to 1690. The trail starts and finishes at the visitor centre at the New Inn. The trail takes place within the gardens. We would normally encourage you to bring family and friends along, but of course during this period you will have to rely on the events team to cheer you along!
The course runs from the visitor centre down to the entrance to the landscape gardens. It will then take you around the gardens and you will run past many of the famous landmarks including the Temple of Friendship, the Temple of British Worthies and over the Palladian Bridge. After returning back past the 11 Acre Lake the trail will take you back towards the visitor centre.
Enjoy the mix of paths, grass and gravel tracks. It is a safe undulating route of the 6km course.
