A Spectacular Weekend of Trail Running Based in the Beautiful Scottish Borders

Glentress Forest is described as the 'Gateway to the Tweed Valley Forest Park'. Perhaps more renowned for its mountain biking, Glentress also offers a superb array of forest trails, making it a fantastic location for trail running. The area features mile upon mile of waymarked trails including forest walks, woodland singletrack and heather clad moorland. A great way to explore all the unique aspects of this stunning forest.

With a choice of three distances there’s something for everyone. Starting with a 21k Half Marathon and a 10k on the Saturday. On Sunday it is the Glentress 42k Trail Marathon.

Event Update: Due to the extensive damage caused by storm Arwen back in November, it is possible that we may need to amend the course routes. The forestry commission are working hard to clear the trails in the area. We will post updated route details nearer the event date.

Glentress 10k Trail Race

Date: Saturday 19th February Start Time: 1100 (TBC)

This will be ideal if you are looking to get into trail running and a great way to explore all the unique aspects of the forest without the more testing climbs. However, with 330m of ascent it’s still a challenging course…not forgetting the exhilarating descent to the finish.

Glentress 21k Trail Half Marathon

Date: Saturday 19th February Start Time: 1000 (TBC)

The 21k distance will be exploring further into the more remote parts of the forest. This route will incorporate sections of the Tower Trail and the Black graded MTB route, climbing high to the top of Glentress Forest, offering some stunning panoramic viewpoints. Featuring a fantastic variety of terrain from hard packed gravel trails to twisting forest singletrack and with 750m of ascent, this amazing course offers something for everyone.

Glentress 42k Trail Marathon

Date: Sunday 20th February Start Time: 1000

This challenging 42km route comprises two circuits of the 21km course giving 1,500m of ascent. Returning through the finish line after the first circuit this is ideal for family and friends to come along and spectate.

Location: Glentress Peel Visitor Centre is in the heart of the Tweed Valley Forest Park between the small Borders towns of Peebles and Innerleithen and just one hour's drive away from Edinburgh.
