By entering the either the Mumbles Run or the Virtual event you agree to abide by the event rules as detailed below. Please read them carefully.

Rules

Samtampa Memorial Mumbles 5km Run

By entering the Samtampa Memorial Mumbles 5km Run you agree to abide by these Conditions of Entry and all instructions given to you by the organisers, marshals or police at the event.

  1. If the event is cancelled due to Covid or bad weather we will not try to organise an alternative date. We will not issue refunds as the entire profits from this event go to charity BUT we will give you the opportunity to take part in the Samtampa Memorial Virtual 5km Run at any time between 1st and 30th April 2022.
  2. The organisers decisions will be final as to whether the event will go ahead on the planned date. The organisers shall not be liable in respect of any entry fees, costs and expenses you may incur as a result of such cancellation.
  3. Entrants must be 16 years of age or over on the event date, proof of age may be required.
  4. Your details will be stored for organisation and track and trace purposes only. They will not be passed to any third party outside of the organisation of the event except if track and trace require. You agree that we may publish your Personal Information as part of the results of the event and may pass such information to the governing body or any affiliated  organisation for the purpose of insurance, licences or for publishing results either for the event alone or combined with or compared to other events. Results may include (but not be limited to) name, any club affiliation, race times, occupation and age category.
  5. All participants are strongly advised to consult their doctor prior to undertaking any exercise programme. If you have a medical condition you must detail this when registering for the event. You are responsible for ensuring that you have undertaken any necessary preparation and training to enter and participate in any run. You warrant to us that you will be, on the date of the run, sufficiently fit and healthy to participate in the run unaided and in accordance with the event rules. If you are in any doubt we recommend that you seek medical advice.
  6. By entering the run you give permission for the use of your image (if acquired) by the organisers and the RNLI on various social media platforms and press release.
  7. For your safety please do not bring pets or other animals.
  8. For safety reasons and primarily for identification by medical staff, the swapping, sale, resale or transfer of race numbers is strictly prohibited.
  9. The wearing of headphones, or similar devices, (other than those medically prescribed), is not permitted. – this rule is for your own safety – you may need to hear instructions from marshals. Anyone seen using headphones will be disqualified.
  10. No refunds will be given for runners who are unable to take part. 
Disclaimer: By entering the Samtampa Memorial Mumbles 5km Run you are accepting all the conditions of entry and acknowledge that the organisers shall not be liable for personal injury, death, loss or damage of belongings as a consequence of your participation in the event.

Virtual event

Run, jog or walk a 5k (3.1miles) on a route of your choice anytime between Friday 1st and Saturday 30th April and upload your proof of activity to Results Base.

Entry

The event is open to runners over 16 and costs £13 (plus an admin fee).

  • You must pay the event entry fee at the time of entering the race
  • The Samtampa Memorial Virtual Run is not a competitive event and as such, there will be no winner for the event.
  • All entry fees are non-refundable after the event has taken place, and cannot be deferred towards any future race, nor can an entry be transferred from one person to another. Your entry is completed as soon as you have completed the race entry process
  • If the event has to be cancelled then the participant’s entry fee shall be reimbursed in full within one calendar month of the event. The organisers shall not be liable for any other costs that may have been incurred by the participant in relation to their entry.

Absolutely all profits from this event will be given to Mumbles RNLI (Charity Number 209603)

Route

Runs can follow any route of your choosing.

  • It is recommended that you plan your route ahead of the event and whilst doing so you checking running surfaces and lighting.  
  • You should minimise the number of road crossings and where they can’t be avoided ensure you take time to check safety before crossing in accordance with the Highway Code.
  • You must be mindful of other footpath users whilst running and run in daylight hours where possible. You should be dressed appropriately with hi visibility clothing and appropriate footwear.
  • Treadmill runs are permitted where outdoor runs cannot be undertaken (ie. for those in self-isolation) but should be clearly marked when submitting times.

Participation is at your own risk

  • You are responsible for ensuring that you have undertaken any necessary preparation and training to enter and participate in any run. You warrant to us that you will be, on the date of the run, sufficiently fit and healthy to participate in the run unaided and in accordance with the event rules. If you are in any doubt we recommend that you seek medical advice.
  • If at any point during the event you feel unwell you must stop running and seek assistance.
  • Entrants taking part in the Samtampa Memorial Run do so entirely at their own risk and are 100% responsible for selecting a safe route to run. Entrants should wear hi-visibility clothing when running in low light conditions and take care around traffic or when running off road. 
  • It is recommended that participants carry a mobile phone with them where possible.
  • It is also recommended that participants carry ICE (in case of emergency) contact details with them.
  • Covid-19 rules and regulations must be adhered to at all times

Personal Information

For the purposes of this section, personal information includes any data or information about you that is described as “personal data” and/or “sensitive personal data” in the Data Protection Act 2018 (which includes your name, photos, medical data and other information about you (“Personal Information”). References to our partners includes our sponsors, advertisers, charities and any other third parties with which we may work in connection with the operation of the website and the organisation and promotion of events and virtual events.

You agree that the Personal Information relating to you can be stored, used by us in connection with the organisation, staging and administration of the event.
