Rules

  • Only fully paid up members of the clubs entered in the League will be eligible to compete.
  • All athletes must be a member of a WA affiliated club within Bridgend County.
  • All athletes of age 16 years and above must be registered as paid–up WA affiliated athletes. Athlete affiliations and WA registrations will be checked.
  • All runners must be 16 years of age or over on the day of the fixture to comply with the League’s minimum age rule.
  • All entries for each fixture are to be received by midnight 3 days prior to the fixture, and no entries will be accepted on the day.
  • In the event of a change of club it is the responsibility of the athlete to ensure the proper transfer procedure has been completed as clearly set out on the Welsh Athletics website and transfer is complete before the runner competes in the League for their new club.
  • Any intentional swapping of numbers will result in disqualification from the league for that season. Each instance will be investigated, and the penalty may be action to both the entered person and runner.
  • Overall individual awards will be any on the best four out of up to six results achieved by each competitor i.e. to qualify, competitors must complete at least four of the six rounds.
  • Presentations to the first 3 male and females over the finish line will be made on the night
  • End of League presentations will be made at an end of season presentation evening.
  • In the event of a fixture cancellation the overall individual awards will be based on the best four out of five results achieved by each competitor. If a second fixture does not proceed then it will be based on three out of four results.
  • Any number of runners from Founder member clubs may compete.
  • Performance guidelines for runners should be adhered to, for the efficient running of the events – runners to have the ability to complete the Porthcawl parkrun in under 45 minutes.
  • The series of league events should encompass races of varying terrain.
  • Event distances should not exceed 6km in order that the event is completed in a maximum of an hour.
  • The wearing of headphones, or similar devices, (other than those medically prescribed), is not permitted in BCRL races.
  • Where an event needs to be cancelled - where possible an alternative date to hold the event will be sought, we will not offer a refund but each entrant will be offered a credit for either the re-scheduled race or an alternative race in the season.

Scoring

  • Runners must wear a club vest or club tee during races
  • Race numbers as issued must be worn on the front of a club vest or tee.
  • Runners appearing at the start line without a race number clearly visible will not be permitted to start.
  • Runners finishing without a visible number will not be placed.
  • The first 15 finishers of each club will count for scoring, with each subsequent finisher scoring -1
  • Any club not able to present 15 finishers, will be awarded a maximum point score equal to number of clubs entered multiplied by 15. For example, if there are 6 clubs entered the team will score 105 per missing runner to maximum of 15 runners recorded
  • For age groups 35 and over, runners age for that year is determined on the 1st April of each competition year.The under 20 category is 16+ on the day of the race and aged 19 on the 1st April in the competition year.
  • All individual results will be converted to an age grade based on the runners age.
  • Scoring is in age groups and from 35+ in 5 year age groups 35+, 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+, 60+. 65+, 70+, 75+ for male and female.The under 20 age group will be recognised for both male and female.
  • The age graded scoring tables used are the 2015 WMA (World Masters Association) and USATF (United States Athletics Track & Field) and will be review annually at the end of each League season.

The above rules will be enforced on the day by the Committee, host club, Race Referee and Race Adjudicator.
