Queen's Platinum Jubilee Firefighter Charity 5k & 10k Runs with Batemans Brewery

Thursday 2nd of June 2022

After the success of our Christmas Rosey Nosey fun run we have teamed up with the Firefighters charity and the Crew at Wainfleet fire station again to put on the Queens Platinum Jubilee Firefighters Charity 5k & 10k runs from our world famous brewery in the historic town of Wainfleet in aid of the Firefighters charity and supporting the local community of Wainfleet. Why not make a day of it, as it is after all the extended Bank holiday weekend so why not enjoy a brewery tour and sample some more of Batemans finest Real Ales on site.

As a fourth-generation family brewer, craft brewing is in Batemans blood.

In 1874, George Bateman began making beer for thirsty Lincolnshire farmers who knew a good pint when they tasted one. Ever since, we’ve used the best-possible ingredients and craft brewing methods to ensure the highest quality, not the lowest cost. And we have teamed up with the Firefighters Charity again to put on two distances runs from our world famous brewery in the historic town of Wainfleet.

A brewer of firsts

Like any true craft brewer, Batemans thrive on a culture of innovation. Whether it’s brewing specialist beers, we’ve never been afraid to go our own way.

In fact, Batemans were one of the first British brewers to experiment with seasonal ingredients that were a bit different to the norm.

Showing our creative side

With Mr George’s Unique Flavours, Batemans not only pioneered flavored beers, They also started something of a tradition for themed monthly specials. There was a place in the market for quirky brews that captured the mood of the moment, celebrated a big event or told fun stories that people could relate to. So they continued that tradition over the years by brewing up all sorts of ideas.

The Jewel in the Crown has historically made an appearance on special occasions and the Queens Platinum Jubilee is a Very special occasion and it has been brought back for this year.

The Run Routes

This is the same route as the Rosey Nosey fun run: 5k - one complete lap, 10k - two complete laps.

You will start outside Batemans Brewery on Mill Lane. The route then takes you up the high street past the Market square before turning onto Magdalen Rd  past Wainfleet Fire station and Fire Appliance appliance, round the primary school and back down Magdalen Rd passing the firestation again before heading down Brewsters Lane, across the level crossing, onto Crows Lane, then turning left with the last stretch down Mill Lane alongside the river steeping and finishing at the  Brewery itself. When you cross the finish line you will be given the choice of a lovely fresh pint of beer or a bottle of Bateman Beer of your choice.

Extra Information

We have been really lucky to get a complete road closure for both runs for you all but this in itself can make parking a bit more difficult.

Please be aware that the Highstreet B1195 will be closed at 15:30hrs from the bridge over the river Haven where Boston road meets vicarage lane (What Three Words location ///moons.stickler.bared) up to spilsby road and northolm (What Three Words location // perused.swung.signed)

Please arrive in enough time to park . There will be a bag drop off point at the Brewery where you will need your race number to be able to collect it afterwards .

Wainfleet is a small historic Lincolnshire town so it doesn't have the same amount of parking as modern towns and cities so can we ask that you car share where possible or better still get the train from Skegness or Boston which drops you off 100 meters from the entrance to the brewery and start of the run. If you are traveling by car please be considerate when parking and don't block in the residents. Just a wee reminder the high street will be closed and coned off from 15:30hrs so no parking allowed here . There is some parking at St johns church What Three Words ///diet.guitar.umbrellas or Magdalen primary school What Three words //glides.extent.sugar. You can park along  Boston road and vicarage lane. Please don't park on Mill lane as this is a small single track road which you will be running down towards the brewery to finish.
