Alnwick Harriers Coastal Run 2023

Alnwick Harriers will be once again hosting the Northumberland Coastal Run 2023, with the date being later in the year, to accommodate the nesting birds on National Trust Land.

We are aiming to open registration on the 9th February and are expecting it to be sold out on the same day, so please add this to your calendar. The cost this year will be £32 for affiliated runners and £34 for all those not affiliated. The coach to the start will be provided at a cost of £6 per head. This year you will be asked if you require a T-Shirt rather than automatically providing one, these will cost £10.

Please note this year there will be no option to transfer or receive any refunds once registered. It is also suggested that if you are unsure if you need the bus seat, please book it, as we are unable to provide more spaces at a later date.

The route will go back to its original format so we will be heading directly to Alnmouth crossing the Beadnell Bay Beach

Race Information

The route

The 14 mile run goes through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty along the Northumberland coastal path from Beadnell Harbour to Alnmouth Estuary, keeping as close to the coast as possible.

The route starts on sand, then onto road, sand, trail, road and finishes on sand at Alnmouth.

The race is not suitable for wheelchairs.

No animals are allowed within the race.

Minimum age of entry 18.

Race start time is 09.30am at Beadnell and there is a three hour 30 minute cut-off. This is NOT a fun run, it is a challenging and unmarked course.

Entry fee

£32 for UKA/British Athletics affiliated runners (your membership number will be checked during entry)

£34 for non-affiliated runners (select the non-UKA/British Athletics option at the membership check)

An administration fee of 5% will be applied to each order by our online entry system partner, Results Base.

No refunds under any circumstances and no deferrals.

No Transfers

Anyone suspected of running with someone else's number will be disqualified from the results.

This can be purchased at time of registration for £10

Transport

Bus to the start cost of £6 and you will have the option to purchase a bus transfer to the start during the entry process - you must select to either have the bus ticket or not. Bus tickets cannot be purchased at a later date.

If you purchase the bus ticket then your race number will also contain your ticket onto the bus - only those with pre-purchased tickets will be allowed to board.

Note that the bus only travels to the Beadnell start - there is no facility for transport back to the start at end of race!!

Parking

Parking at both Beadnell and Alnmouth is very limited. Please respect the village's wishes and park in the designated car park at the bus collection point at Hipsburn School. Clubs who normally bring buses should already have been contacted by a member of Alnwick Harriers to confirm which parking spot you have as there is no facility in Alnmouth for buses not booked in.
