Wind Farm Swim 2024

Wind Farm Swim - the Iconic swim off the coast of Sussex.

Run by the official Wind Farm Swim organisers, Salty Events, The Wind Farm Swim is the ultimate local challenge.

Distance: 15km*-18km

Route: Rampion Wind Farm - Shoreham Beach

Start times for each swim event will be confirmed closer to the time.
To ensure we are able to support you i achieving something wonderful, it is important that you select the correct event type and pace for you.

How the Wind Farm Swim Works.
We offer two types of event, a solo swim or a relay swim. 
Solo Swim
This event is for those wanting to complete the entire 15km* swim solo at the agreed group pace. This events has a maximum of 4 swimmers. 
Relay Swim
This event is for those who want to be part of a group to complete the 15km* swim at the agreed pace. If you enter independently, we will partner you with another swimmer and you will relay with each other and complete 1 hour of swimming at a time.  If you have other swimmers you want to swim with then we can arrange your team accordingly. This event has a maximum of 6 swimmers with a maximum of 3 swimmers in the water at any one time. 
Private Groups
If you have a group of 6 or more (maximum10) and want your own event, please get in touch and we will try and arrange a private date that works for you. Please do not book onto the private group dates currently advertised unless instructed to.

Pacing
It is important that you sign up to the correct paced event for you. During the swim, you will be required to swim as a group at the agreed pace. In the event of a swimmer swimming ahead of pace, they will be asked to loop back or wait. If a swimmer is swimming below pace, they will join the boat where they will have an opportunity to rest and refuel or to be taken to the front of the group and dropped off with the other swimmers. 
When you sign up, you are agreeing to cooperate with the above, and the instructions given during the swim. 

Land Crew Member
Every swimmer must have a landing crew member. A landing crew member is someone who meets the swimmer on shore with warm items including warm drink, hats and gloves, a change of clothes and shoes.   A small bag of belongings can remain on the boat but it will no be brought to shore.  At the end of the event, anything that can fit into a small 10L bag will be ferried to shore, any other belongings will be left on the boat for collection afterwards, once the boat has returned to dock. 

The landing crew member and anyone wanting to track your progress will be added to a WhatsApp group with the landing crew members and supporters of other swimmers.  Whilst we give an estimated arrrival time, this can change considerably during the event so landing crew members should allow a 3 hour window to meet the swimmers when they finish.

*The return swim from the Wind Farm is a minimum of 15km in open sea conditions.
