Codebreaker Sportive 2013

Enigma 100K                          Colossus 100 M

Our sportive is named in honour of the legendary home of the codebreakers; Bletchley Park - the National Codes and Cipher Centre

You have a choice of two distances:

• Enigma Sportive of 100km with around 2,800 feet of climbing

Codebreaker:http://connect.garmin.com/activity/71922063

• Colossus Sportive of 100 miles with around 4,500 feet of climbing

Colossus http://connect.garmin.com/course/909341

Both distances feature an outstanding circular route through the country lanes surrounding Milton Keynes and Bletchley taking in the two counties of Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire. The 100 mile route will have two feed stations, you will visit the one at Salford twice. The 100km route will visit the Salford feed once.

Venue

Tattenhoe Sports Pavilion Holborn Crescent,

Milton Keynes ,

Buckinghamshire,

MK4 3EQ

The venue is near the edge of the city so less roundabouts to negotiate before hitting the country lanes around the city.

The route is rolling with a few nasty little climbs, especially near the Brickhills, where both routes pass. The Pavilion has showers and will be selling drinks before the event and hot and cold food after.

Parking

The venue has plenty of parking, but if the weather is as good as planned we may need to use parking nearby, please look out for instructions from marshals. Registration: We want to make this as smooth as possible so when you arrive in the registration area (which will be signed from the car park) Please go to the desk that matches your surname alphabetically, you will be given an envelope which will contain your timing chip which sticks to the left side of your cycle helmet and does not need returning after the event, and contact details if you have any problems on the route.

Registration

Registration will be open at 8am at the Tattanhoe sports pavillion and will be either in the hall or if the weather is nice (high hopes) just out side the venue.

First aid

We have first aid available and if you have any issues on route please call any of these numbers and we will get someone to you ASAP.

Kevin 07717 203769, Lisa 07590 633358 or jack 0740 858588

Start times

Both events will start at 9am, please do start as early as possible especially if you think you may take sometime to complete the route. Please bear in mind that the extra loop for the 100 mile will CLOSE at 12:00. If you have not made this point by then you will be diverted onto the 100k route.

Photography

We will have someone taking pictures at the end of the route, these will be uploaded to Facebook and we may have picture or video on route, so makesure you smile :-)

Mechanical support

We will have inner tubes, tyres, puncture repair kits and pumps available at the start, and feed station. If you have a mechanical on route please call us on one of these numbers

Kevin 07717 203769, Lisa 07590 633358 or jack 0740 858588

Food

We will have plenty of savory and sweet foods for you to eat on route. Thats not to say a full blown dinner, but enough food to keep you topped up or a break from the minging health bars that everyone eats these days!! Malt loaf, flapjack, bannanas, etc and also tea, coffee and plenty of good old fashioned water.

If you are doing the 100 k route you will have a feed station at Salford village, if you are doing the 100 mile route you will have two chances to get food.

Toilets

Aailable at the start, feed point and Finish

Timed climb

We are planning to time the climb at Great Brickhill, this will be timed twice if you are doing the 100 mile. We also looking at videoing this climb, so make sure while you are in pain that you save yourself enough energy to smile!!

Spectators

There plenty of good vantage points on the route, but I can suggest the climb at Great Brickhill and the pub the Red Lion. The other option (another great pub) is at the feed stops at Salford and the fantastic Swan with fantastic food and fine beers.
