After two years of hosting the ETU Standard Distance Triathlon Qualifier, we’re back to our normal format with the popular Man v Woman challenge, this is where the first person across the line wins an overall cash prime to add to excitement.
Event details
The race is located by the Alinora Boat Ramp near the Yacht Club (postcode BN12 4JE) at Goring Beach, Worthing, which is between Brighton and Chichester in West Sussex. The sea quality has been excellent over the last 14 years although the tides and currents can affect swim times.
This is a Standard and Sprint distance triathlon with a 1.5km/750m sea swim, 41km/21km undulating bike and 10km/5km promenade run, with the option of a Relay triathlon over the Standard distance.
The bike course is undulating with no significant hills but a long drag out of the town to the turn round before a fast return leg. The run is dead flat on the promenade.
The race HQ is on a large expanse of grass adjacent to the beach which is regularly used by kite surfers, this is where the catering and trade stands will be situated.
The Sprint starts at 06:30 followed by the Standard/Relay in a number of waves from 06:45.
