When?

The SPRINT TRI Ponteland will take place on Sunday 30th June 2019. Now in its second year after a very successful first event in 2018. Organised by Ponteland Tri Club, winners of the North East Region Triathlon Club of the Year 2017, and National Go Tri Organisers of the year 2018.

Where?

The event takes place at Ponteland Leisure Centre, Ponteland NE20 9EG.

There is free parking nearby. There will be hot and cold food and drink options for participants and spectators both before and after the event in the ‘Fanzone’. Clubs are welcome to bring along team tents for the finishing straight.

What?

The triathlon will be a 400m pool swim, a 20km bike and a 6km run.

Swim: The 400 metre swim will be in wave format. There will be 4 lanes in the pool with 4 competitors per lane. The start and finish will be in the deep end. If you need assistance (ladders) to exit the pool, please advise us at swim@sprinttriponteland.org.uk and we shall ensure you are in the lane with ladders. When you go to the event entry, the swim time needs to be entered in the format mm:ss.

Bike: The 20km bike ride will take place on undulating roads around and about the beautiful and quiet country lanes around Ponteland. The initial section of the bike route will be neutralised (timer stopped and restarted) for competitor safety to get you out of the leisure centre (right turn) and through the main traffic lights in the village.

Helmets are compulsory for all races, a bike is an essential bit of kit, but as long as it's been serviced and road worthy you can use it.

The race is on roads open to other traffic and normal traffic laws must be adhered to at all times. The bike route on your race will be signposted and have marshals to help direct you, however, it's always useful to read the competitor information to check the route before the race.

Run: The 5.7km run will start and finish at the Ponteland Leisure Centre and we aim to make this an excellent finish to your race as you are cheered across the line. The route will be signposted and have marshals.

How much?

Individual entry for this event will be £39 BTF members/£44 non-BTF members. Team entry will be £49 (BTF members/£54 non-BTF members).

An administration fee of 6% will be applied to each order by our online entry system partner, Results Base.

Please note that during the registration process your BTF membership will be checked and if valid the appropriate discount will be applied (only one discount per team!). If you enter as a BTF member and then fail to produce your licence at the event, there will be a £5 day membership fee payable.

Anything else?

Event entries open on 16^th February 2018 and close on 9^th June 2019. Event entry includes a free T-shirt and a goody bag. These will be collected at registration on the day of the event. All entrants get a voucher for a free burger from the BBQ after finishing the race.

There will be awards for 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd positions in all age categories and overall winners.

If you want to be sent an SMS message of your finish time you can add this option to your basket for a £1 additional charge.

Sprint Tri Ponteland are proud to be supporting the Brain Research UK charity this year in support of fellow member Ali Guadagno:

"After being struck down with a brain tumour in December 2017, 'The Incredibles' have kept me running come rain or shine. They have supported me through the darkest of times, encouraged me to get out of bed, pound the road, laugh, cry and finish with the essential coffee and cake! It has been, and still is, the toughest of roads and I couldn't have done it without them. I never thought I would make it this far. Many of the girls will be supporting and taking part in this event in support of the Brain Research UK charity and we would all be so grateful for your support in raising money for them too. You will be getting many requests this year but even if you can donate £1, it will mean so much to us and help us get through the miles, knowing we are making a difference.
