RUN AND RIDE
Run and Ride for Pieta is a series of exciting duathlon challenges designed to get you fit and push you to new levels of achievement!

Every Monday a new challenge is released which we encourage you to complete by the following Sunday night.

*But this is not 100pc necessary - instead we've extended the deadline for all challenges to July 26th*

Results are posted to a scoreboard that will feature thousands of others tackling the exact same challenge across the country.

The challenges are all designed to be done from home and all you need is a pair of runners and a bike.

Each week they get slightly harder until the final challenge of a sprint distance duathlon (for starter level challengers) or a gruelling middle distance duathlon (for expert level challengers).

CHALLENGES FOR EVERYBODY

STARTER: For people who are getting fit and want to take on the challenge of completing a full sprint distance duathlon by week 6 - that's a 5km run, a 20km ride, and a 2.5km run - all without stopping!

EXPERT: For existing Triathlon Ireland members or people who have completed a duathlon or triathlon in the past. This is a series of tough challenges starting with a sprint distance duathlon on week 1 and building up to a middle distance distance duathlon by week 6.

RESULTS

There are three main ways to record your results

- You can simply enter the time it took you to complete each leg of the weekly challenge and attach an accompanying pic of you getting it done or a pic of your fitbit with the activity visible.
or
- You can enter the time it took you to complete each leg of the weekly challenge and paste a link to the completed activities  on your Strava, Garmin Connect or other sports tracking service accounts.
or
- You can link this site to your Strava or Garmin account and the time and distance will be automatically uploaded giving a verified time for your weekly challenge.

For more detailed information head to the How to Record Your Results tab.

LEADERBOARDS
There are separate leaderboards for the Starter and Expert Challenges. For the Starter leaderboard the aim is participation and competitors will be trusted to upload their results honestly - this is a challenge you complete for your own satisfaction.

For the tougher Expert Challenge, uploaded or linked Strava or Garmin data is compulsory to secure your spot in the overall and Age Group standings. Participants without verifiable data can still take part each week but will be removed from the leaderboards.

RULES

All activities must be completed solo and outdoors (so no Zwift ride please).
Triathlon Ireland will reserve the right to remove any result which it deems to be lacking in evidence or athletic history on behalf of the competitor (for instance anyone running sub 35mins for 10km can expect us to check their history to see if this is consistent with past performances).
There's a full list of rules, advice and insurance information in the Rules and Advice section.

PRIZES
Each week our friends in Off The Ball will announce the best athletes from the previous week's challenges and will give away two fantastic spot prizes to a randomly selected female and male from the participants.

The weekly and overall winners will be recognised on Triathlon Ireland’s various social channels each week.

  • Maintain social distancing.
  • Complete the runs and rides solo.
