Alnwick Harriers Coastal Run

Alnwick Harriers will be once again hosting the Northumberland Coastal Run. We are keen to work closely with our community and environment so  we are continuing to restrict our numbers to 1000. We will also be including a T-shirt in the cost of registration with an option to donate its value to our local charity, North Northumberland Hospice Care, if you don't require one.

Registration will open on the 1st of October 2024. We are opening earlier this year as we appreciate many people come and make the weekend a holiday, so there is more opportunity to book accommodation in advance. We are offering the option to transfer (please see this FAQ page) and this will be available up until six weeks prior to the event, June 15th 2025. Entries will be available up until the day of the event, however there will be no option for a T-shirt and/or a bus ticket after the 6 week point.

The cost this year will be the same as last year, £39 for affiliated runners and £41 for all those not affiliated. The coach to the start will be available at a cost of £6 per head.

Race Information

The route

The approximately 14 mile run goes through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty along the Northumberland coastal path from Beadnell Harbour to Alnmouth Estuary, keeping as close to the coast as possible.

The route starts on sand, then onto road, sand, trail, road and finishes on sand at Alnmouth.

The race is not suitable for wheelchairs.

No animals are allowed within the race.

Minimum age of entry 18.

Race start time is 10.30am at Beadnell and there is a three hour 30 minute cut-off. due to tide and safety. This is NOT a fun run, it is a challenging and unmarked course.

Entry fee

£39 for UKA/British Athletics affiliated runners (your membership number will be checked during entry)

£41 for non-affiliated runners (select the non-UKA/British Athletics option at the membership check)

An administration fee of 5% will be applied to each order by our online entry system partner, Results Base.

No refunds under any circumstances, and no deferrals.

T-Shirt

This year you will have the option of selecting a free event T-shirt, or donating the value to the North Northumberland Hospice Care Charity.

The T-shirt option will not be available for any entries made after June 15th 2025.

Transport

A bus transfer to the start is available at a cost of £6 and you will have the option to purchase this during the entry process - you must select to either have the bus ticket or not. Bus tickets cannot be purchased at a later date.

If you purchase the bus ticket, then your race number will also contain your ticket onto the bus - only those with pre-purchased tickets will be allowed to board.

Note that the bus only travels to the Beadnell start - there is no facility for transport back to the start at end of race!!

The bus transfer option will not be available for any entries made after June 15th 2025.

Parking

Parking at both Beadnell and Alnmouth is very limited. Please respect the village's wishes and park in the designated car park at the bus collection point at Hipsburn School. Clubs who normally bring buses should already have been contacted by a member of Alnwick Harriers to confirm which parking spot you have as there is no facility in Alnmouth for buses not booked in.
