The ballot system

Because the event always sells through very quickly it has been decided to repeat the ballot entry process we used in 2024 instead of the mad dash for places in the queue.

Application for a ballot place (one place per person) can be made at any time between 06:00 on Thursday 26th September and 21:59 on Monday 30th September - there really is no need to rush!

Once the applications are in, a random draw will be made to select the lucky applicants and they will each be emailed a special link that they can use to enter the Brass Monkey. Again, there will be no need to rush to complete your entry purchase - the entry window will be open between 08:00 on Tuesday 1st October and midnight on Friday 4th October. Provided you use the link in your email during this timeframe you'll be guaranteed your place.

Those not lucky enough to secure a place will be emailed and, if people who have been offered a place don't take it up, the organisers will reallocate these places to the next applicant from the random draw ballot. These emails will go out on Saturday 5th October and you will have until midnight on Monday 7th October to accept.

Whether you are a keen club runner, doing your first half, or just running for fun, this is the road race for you. A flat and fast course with 1,800 places available. Now in its 42nd year.

Follow the Brass Monkey Half Marathon Facebook page for the latest news/updates.

Race instructions and bib numbers will be posted out in advance to the athlete address you provide during registration. If you need to update this information after entry please see these instructions.

Location Facilities - updated for 2025

The race is based at York Racecourse (Google map HERE).

We are pleased to say we will have full use of the Ebor Suite again, with seating, bag drop and toilets available inside.

Parking

This year prizes and places will be based on GUN time.

2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024

Transfers/Refund Policy

Person-to-person transfers of race entries are permitted but must be done following the process set out on the Transfers FAQ page. All online person-to-person transfers must have been completed by midnight on Tuesday 10th December 2024. Transfers completed after this date will not be accepted, nor will edited name entries be accepted.

Unfortunately entry refunds will not be possible in the event of race cancellation (including COVID-related), as many of the race expenses will have been incurred. We will not be able to roll over entries to subsequent years.

Fees

UKA Affiliated club members: £27*

Non-affiliated runners: £29

Please note that all runners must be 18 or older on the day of the race.

An administration fee of 5% will be applied to each order by our online entry system partner, Results Base.

* Please note that your England Athletics/Welsh Athletics membership number will be checked during the registration process and if valid the appropriate discount will be applied. Scottish Athletics members can also obtain the discount by entering their membership number into the appropriate field at the same point in the registration process.

There will be no registrations on the day.
